Barabus’ parents both died when he was very young and he took up with street people who taught him how to emphasize the negative to appeal to a person’s sense of pity. While pretending to be a blind youth, he actually bore semi-witness to the murder of a city councilman of Fairview. He learned that the killer was none other than the crown prince! Until growing more powerful in the ways of magic, he feared to end his ruse as The Blind Magician, but now his secret is finally out amongst his friends and he believes in using new disguises to fool his enemies and if they see through them, well, he believes he is powerful enough to make a stand. He is very much mistaken and was nearly killed by robbers who left him naked and bleeding on an inn-room floor. Since then, he has gone back to the manipulation that got him through childhood to slowly recoup his losses. Accustomed to a supporting role among his peers, he is recklessly brave but values his life more than others’, so he can be counted on to save a friend but his brashness is ephemeral at best, yet another disguise he wears in order to keep the security of those friends around to protect him.
